"The visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Georgia and her statements is yet another confirmation that the peacekeeping course chosen by the Government of Georgia has no alternative". With such announcement the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili responded to the visit of German Chancellor to Georgia.

"Angela Merkel emphasized that what is happening on the occupation line, is injustice and the president of Russia knows about her position on this issue. Chancellor said that this injustice should remain in the past. She added that today, as well as 10 years ago, Germany supports Georgia's territorial integrity and is ready to contribute to the conflict resolution process.

"It is especially important to hear these words from Angela Merkel, who is from East German and who has grown beyond the Berlin Wall. She, as well as the whole Germany, knows very well what does it mean to live in the country divided by artificial barricades.

"The fact that the leader of Germany visited Georgia on the tenth anniversary of Georgia - Russia war is a very important message from this country. Official Berlin has repeatedly declared support for our peacekeeping policy, for example, when we introduced a new peace initiative "A Step for a Better Future".

"Angela Merkel reiterated that Germany supports the reforms carried out by the Georgian government and the political course that the government holds in relation to European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the occupied regions", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
