The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar.
Discussions were focused on the next round of Geneva international discussions and its agenda. The topics of the humanitarian group, headed by First Deputy State Minister, were discussed in details.
The sides also talked about the current situation in Georgia's occupied territories, facts of human rights violations. Special attention was paid to the situation of ethnic Georgians living in Gali and Akhalgori districts, restricting freedom of movement and prohibiting the education of their native language. The State Minister spoke about the challenges and problems of the population living on both sides of the dividing lines.
Besides, they discussed the new peace initiative of the Government of Georgia "A Step for a Better Future" and the steps taken for its effective implementation. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili thanked the guest for his firm support and expressed hope for further assistance in the implementation of this initiative.
The special role of co-chair of the EU as international negotiations and contribution to the conflicts peaceful resolution was noted.
