Georgia’s State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and the Minister of Foreign Affairs met the representatives of international organizations and the diplomatic corps in Georgia and informed them about the incident.
According to the State Minister, information was exchanged and the diplomatic corps was requested to use the political levers.
“As you can see, all the available mechanisms are enacted by the relevant structures to release Maia Otinashvili. The State Security Service continues hotline communication through EU Monitoring Mission. It is very important to obtain reliable information about her condition, that is why all possible channels have been activated. Certainly, there may be a lot of questions and doubts. The challenge is to ensure that all relevant organizations have access to her. It was requested through the hotline to communicate with the family, but no consent has been received so far, which is unacceptable. The efforts will continue.
“This fact is unlawful. It is very hard when it comes to mother of three minor children who are waiting for her at home; a woman who has been living in dire conditions face-to-face with barbed wires for so many years. When that kind of action takes place, it does not have any legitimacy or human justification. Therefore, our demands and efforts are aimed at having the mother released as soon as possible“-Ketevan Tsikhelashvili stated.
