By the initiative of the office of the state minister of Georgia for reconciliation and civic equality, United Nations Association of Georgia and Civil integration Intercultural Relations Center (CCIIR) trainers support training "Support for Access to Professional and Higher Education for Ethnic Minority Representatives" has started.
A group of 30 youngers - ethnic Armenian, Azeri and Georgian - will be able to take two-day training on "1 + 4 internships" and the possibilities of higher and vocational education.
From December of current year until May 2019, the participants of this training will provide detailed information about these issues to the ethnic minorities in the regions densely populated by ethnic minorities.
Deputy Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Lia Gigauri addressed the participants with the welcome speech and said that the work that young people serve is extremely important.
"For the full integration of ethnic minorities in the country's social, political and economic life it is very important that every young person living in these regions have information about the opportunities that the State created to them. In particular, what programs and affiliate policies do we offer, what are the higher and vocational education and what is support for employment. So that they can make an informed decision oriented on development on future planning.
"The most important factor is that the trainings are being conducted by young people who are also representatives of these regions and ethnic minorities. Their personal example might be a model for the next generations. They will see that the possibilities are real and people, who use these opportunities, are successful”, - said Lia Gigauri.
Young people are also addressed head of “tolerance, civil consciousness and integration support program” (PITA) Lasha Jugeli and the Head of “Civil Integration and Intercultural Relations Center” Kakha Gabunia.
