Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the Ambassador of France

The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with Ambassador of France to Georgia Pascal Menie.

The main topic of the meeting was the closure of the so-called crossing points in direction of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region. The State Minister spoke in details about the problems that the population faces on the both sides of the dividing line due to this decision. The Ambassador expressed his concern because of such difficulties and received from the State Minister detailed information about the situation on the ground.

Ketevan Tsikhelashvili also provided the Ambassador with the information about Governments reconciliation and engagement policy and informed about the future plans in this regard. They discussed the Government's new peace initiative "A Step to a Better Future", which envisages economic strengthening of the population living on the occupied territories and facilitating access to various services to them. The State Minister noted that the initiative is currently in the process of implementation.

At the end of the meeting, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili thanked the guest for open and coordinated cooperation and support. The sides agreed to continue bilateral cooperation.
