"There are small children in Akhalgori who do not have the opportunity to communicate with their parents for more than a month. They also are not involved in the learning process”. This statement was made by State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili after the meeting with UN Special Representative, Cihan Sultanoglu, co-chairman of Geneva International Negotiations.

The main topic of the meeting was the so called closure of the so-called crossing point in Tskhinvali regions direction. As a result, more than a month people have movement restrictions. According to the State Minister, this is the most urgent issue on the agenda and which is about a lot of people.

"I would like to underline once again that restriction of freedom of movement means full isolation not only for Akhalgori district but to the whole Tskhinvali region. Everyday restrictions for thousands of people are an additional problem. They do not have access to certain products, medications and other daily needs. This is absolutely unacceptable and illegal.

"Obviously, our partners use every way to restore the movement. Our efforts are aimed at ensuring the freedom of movement in general. Any decision-makers is obliged to open the crossing points and give the population the opportunity to receive the vital needs", - said the State Minister.

During the meeting the format of Geneva international negotiations and the importance of UN organizations involvement in peaceful resolution of the conflict were also discussed.

"In the future our overall strategy will be even more efforts, because this is the only answer we can confront today to this forceful locking and isolation policy", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
