The visit of the State Minister to the United States continues. On the second day of his working visit to Washington, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with Assistant Secretary-Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations Denise Natali and introduced her the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia in detail.

Assistant Secretary of State was interested in the peace initiative of the Government of Georgia and expressed the support for its implementation.

"The main issue we talked about is our cooperation in the direction of peaceful conflict resolution. Today I met with the person at the State Department who is responsible for conflict resolution, prevention and stabilization issues and is our immediate partner. We talked about the current stage of implementation of the peace initiative and the deepening of our cooperation for effectively respond to the challenges of Russian occupation", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

Occupied territories were the main topic of discussion later in the meeting with Congressman Gwen Moore. The State Minister provided information on the facts of violation of human rights in the occupied territories also to the representatives of the Foreign Committee.

At the end of the day Ketevan Tsikhelashvili talked about the occupied regions with experts of various influential organizations. American experts working on politics and conflict have been particularly interested in a peace initiative "A Step to a Better Future".

"It is very important for me that everywhere - in the State Department, Congress, from the both parties – we see unanimous and unwavering support. Georgia is a matter of which there is no difference of opinion. Today we talked about very specific tools and mechanisms that could support Georgia's peacekeeping policies and very pragmatic steps that we are trying to do in the new peace initiative. Very soon it will become functional", - added the State Minister.
