The Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Lia Gigauri delivered a welcome speech at the event hosted by Davit Aghmashenebeli’s National Defense Academy of Georgia.
In addition to the leadership of several higher education institutions, military servicemen and cadets, the pupils from Pankisi Gorge, Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti schools with the initiative of the State Minister’s Office attended the event. They received detailed information about the recruitment, existing undergraduate, Georgian language training and exchange programs. The also had an opportunity to get acquainted with the academy's material-technical base and living conditions.
The Deputy State Minister talked about the importance of peaceful resolution of conflicts. At the same time, it was mentioned that the National Defense Academy prepares specially needed staff to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
"The mandate of the Office of the State Minister on the one hand is to conduct the policy of the reconciliation of the State, and, on the other hand, to strengthen ethnic minorities, their integration, full involvement, protection of rights and coordination of processes. This is a part of State’s effort to make conditions for ethnic minorities, encourage them to participate in the political and economic life of the country, to have a job prospect and to maximize their capabilities. That's why we invited you to the Academy in order to let you know more about the profession that is important to the development and strength of the country. We want you to be fully aware of the Defense Academy's mission and think about whether this is your future and you can see yourself in the service of the country", - said Lia Gigauri.
Later, young people viewed sports activities and exhibited equipment on the territory of the National Defense Academy.
