The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, accompanied by Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili and Governor of Shida Kartli Giorgi Khojevanishvili, visited Nikozis agricultural cooperative "Nikozi"’s sapling farm.
The sapling farm was created by the farmer Giorgi Mchedlidze within the framework of the agricultural project "Plant the Future". It is oriented on expansion and multiplication of new varieties. The farmer planted the American varieties of walnut and almonds on several thousand hectares.
According to the State Minister, Giorgi Mchedlidze's sapling farm is the most remarkable statement of what is the policy of Georgia and that the barbed wire fences will be dissolved by hard work and development.
"I think this nursery farm is not just a farm. If we talk about patriotism today, I think that everything is going on here. This person has built a huge farm with his own labor, of course, with the support of the state, on the occupation line. He cares not only for the development of this farm and Nikozi, but sends a very powerful message to the other side. And people there see that the only way to the future is development and not the fences that bring isolation.
"This person is also going to build a Georgian-Ossetian friendship alley. I think that this intention is very well expressed in this patriotic spirit, and of course, by his work - is a reconciliation message. Nikozi is one of the outstanding examples that we can answer barbed wire fences with development. We will continue to support the villages and to help the population to develop such farms to benefit themselves and, of course, with this united efforts to destroy the barbed wire fences. The contrast is visible - look around on that side and look at what's going on in the Georgia’s Governments controlled area. We will continue to assist the population affected by dividing lines in Nikozi and other villages as well. We have a development strategy for this", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
