The situation in the occupied territories and the Georgian government's peace policy was the main topic of discussion at the meeting held by the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality in the Parliament of Great Britain. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili talked about the ways of implementing peacekeeping program at the meeting with Jonathan Janoghlli, Head of the Inter-party Parliamentary Group.
The State Minister has reviewed the challenges with which the population of occupied territories and people living along the dividing lines deal in everyday manner. The Head of the parliamentary group received information about the restrictions of freedom of movement and the difficulties that it caused.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili highlighted the reconciliation and engagement policy with which Georgia responds to Russian occupation and introduce the peace initiative of the Government of Georgia "A Step to the Better Future".
The peace initiative was one of the main topics of the meeting, which was held at the Foreign Minister's Office at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Office of the Directorate of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Rupert Ainli. The State Minister provided the British side with information on the civil integration policy and the steps taken in this regard.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili also attended the opening of the Chatham House Conference “The Rules-Based International Order: Preservation and Modernization”.
Later the State Minister met with the representatives of influential expert circles at the working lunch. Among them were the Director of the Foreign Policy of the Center for European Reform Jan Bond,
Foreign Policy Center’s Senior adviser Kreig Olipant, Henry Jackson Society’s Director of the Russian and Eurasian Research Center Andrew Foxel etc. The topic of the conversation was the ways of peaceful settlement of the conflict and the steps taken by the Georgian authorities in this direction.
"Great Britain is a close partner of Georgia. I thanked them for the support of our country's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and for the co-operation and support of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.
"Britain is a country that supports the peace process and has actually been involved in the conflict resolution for 25 years. They confirmed their solid readiness for the expansion of cooperation. More importantly, they support Georgia's peacekeeping policy, our approaches and new initiatives. We talked about the specific directions of our co-operation and the future plans", - said the State Minister.
Ambassador of Georgia Tamar Beruchashvili also attended the meetings.
