The Georgian government's peace initiative "A Step to a Better Future" was the main theme of the meeting, which was held by the State Minister for reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili with the Director of the Foreign Policy Center of the NGO "The Heritage Foundation", Liu Coffey.
The State Minister in details reviewed the essence of the initiative. Talked about the benefits that the residents of the occupied territories and people of villages along the dividing line will receive from its implementation. Discussions also focused on projects aimed at supporting conflict affected people on both sides of dividing lines.
Participants discussed the situation in the occupied territories. The State Minister emphasized the difficult conditions in which people live in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region. She also talked about the challenges and problems of people living across dividing lines, especially restrictions for free movement.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili informed the guest about the situation in direction of ethnic minorities. Introduced the state policy on their rights. She talked about the current progress and the challenges of the country.
At the end of the meeting the sides expressed their desire to deepen their relations. Specific plans were set.
