The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality held a meeting with the representatives of international organizations working within the framework of strategic partnership in Abkhazia. At the meeting they informed Ketevan Tsikhelashvili about the ongoing and planned projects in Abkhazia.
During the meeting, the State Minister spoke about the projects implemented within the framework of the Government's peace initiative "A Step to a Better Future" and noted that interest from the occupied territories towards this initiative is unprecedented.
“Today we had a meeting with international organizations working in Abkhazia. UN organizations and other international organizations that carry out important projects. This is mainly humanitarian projects that are aimed at helping the local population. There is a very wide range of activities. Our interest is international organizations to have the opportunity to carry out the activities for the needs of the population in the region. At the same time we have talked about the initiatives that the Georgian government is implementing within the framework of engagement policy, and in particular the new initiative “A Step to a Better Future". We have an interest from the population to expand contacts. Of course, we also talked about the existing challenges and the ways how to overcome them", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
The State Minister underlined that the humanitarian projects, which are implemented by the UN Office in Georgia and international organizations in Abkhazia, are very important.
The meeting was held with the initiative of the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and organized by the UN Delegation to Georgia.
