State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with São Tomé and Principe National Assembly President Delphi Santiago das Neves and Assembly deputies.
At the meeting, the State Minister briefed the guests on the situation in the occupied territories. She talked in details about the difficulties faced by locals because of the Russian occupation.
Humanitarian challenges also were discussed. Including human rights violations in the occupied territories, problems caused by restrictions on freedom of movement, consequences of restrictions on the right to education in the mother tongue, etc. The importance of the unity of the international community in the humanitarian aspects was emphasized. The parties have clearly stated that it is necessary to resolve humanitarian issues without a political context.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili briefed the guests on Georgia's peace policy and steps taken towards reconciliation and engagement. She talked about the peace initiative “A Step to a Better Future”, which is in the process of implementation. The parties also referred to the Geneva international discussions.
At the end of the meeting, the State Minister thanked the guests for their support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
