Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the Council of Europe representatives on the preparation of 20th Consolidated Report

State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with Deputy Director of the Political Affairs Department of the Council of Europe Daniel Khoshabo, Advisor to the Political Affairs Department of the Council of Europe Marcel Kappi and Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia Christian Urse.

The purpose of the meeting was to receive an information on the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia for the 20th Consolidated Report of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

The State Minister in details talked about the situation on the occupied territories - socio-economic, humanitarian and security challenges – and focused on human rights violations.

Ketevan Tsikhelashvili underlined the problems caused by the restriction of the freedom of movement. Among them – the closure of the so-called checkpoint in Akhalgori direction. The State Minister also briefed the guests on the incidents that took place in the last six months.

The conversation also touched upon Georgia's peace policy and the steps taken in this regard. The main directions of the engagement policy and future plans were discussed. The focus was on the peace initiative "A Step to a Better Future" and the process of its implementation.

At the end of the meeting, the State Minister thanked the representatives of the Council of Europe for their efforts. According to Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, the consolidated reports of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe are important as they reflect the situation on the occupied territories.
