State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili participated in the event of handing over apartments to 700 IDP families in the newly constructed buildings in Tbilisi.
As a result of the flat transfers, 24 IDP buildings in Tbilisi have been closed. More than 270 IDP families will receive their own apartments till the end of the year.
As the State Minister said, the State continues the course it has chosen. In particular - care for the population affected by the conflict. She said it was and will remain a priority for the Government in the future.
“These are people who feel the gravity of the current occupation and the unresolved conflict directly, on a daily basis. They have temporarily lost access to their homes and still cannot return due to the current situation.
“I'm really happy to share their joy today. However, we will fight peacefully for the day when we all share one major joy - when they return to their homes in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
It should be mentioned that housing budget for IDPs is increasing every year. This year's budget is GEL 67 million. According to Tikaradze, 250 more families will be provided with apartments this year. Applications are still being received at this point.
Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Ekaterine Tikaradze has handed over the key to the IDP families to the new apartments.
