State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili congratulates the society on October 27 - Abkhaz language day.
"The Abkhaz language is protected by the Constitution of Georgia and this speaks to the importance of this language for all of our society. It is in urgent need of preservation, protection and development today because of the situation on the occupied territory. That is why the state is taking appropriate steps, including in the framework of the 2017 State Program on the Abkhaz Language.
"I am glad that more and more young people are interested in learning this unique language. Georgian and Abkhazian societies have a lot of things in common. Mother tongue is important for identity and our efforts to maintain and develop it must be united. We should be able to overcome the painful experiences of the past, overcome barbed wire fence through cooperation and reconciliation, for the better future of our children”, - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
