State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with students at the International School of Rome and visited the exhibition "Forgotten Victims of Occupation in Georgia" organized by the Embassy of Georgia in Italy.
The works of Georgian and foreign photojournalists filmed from different periods of the 90s and nowadays were presented on the exhibition. The photos depict the tragedy of the IDPs from Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region and their current situation.
The State Minister delivered a lecture on Georgia’s peace policy with students. She spoke extensively about the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, the gross violations of human rights, the restriction of education and movement.
Special attention was paid to the particularly discriminatory situation of the ethnically Georgian population living on the occupation territories.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili also spoke about the difficulties of the population living along the dividing lines. The students were interested in Georgia's peace policy and concrete initiatives. The questions were answered by the State Minister in a comprehensive manner.
At the end of the meeting, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili thanked the audience and the Embassy of Georgia in Italy for their interest in these topics.
