The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani held an online meeting, with the representatives of international organizations.
Tea Akhvlediani expressed gratitude to international partners for the steady support of Georgia that gains particular importance against the challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The parties discussed the humanitarian situation including in Abkhazia region specifically concerning the crisis and needs triggered by the pandemic.
Tea Akhvlediani spoke about the implementation of reconciliation and engagement policy, including the endeavors of the Government of Georgia to assist the local population. She emphasized that one of the main goals of the peace policy is to improve the socio-economic situation of conflict-affected communities as well as to build confidence and foster cooperation across dividing lines.
The representatives of international organizations gave an overview of their activities in Georgia.
The State Minister stressed the importance of continued support and engagement of international organizations, including through peace and confidence building between war-torn communities and humanitarian assistance on the ground that aim at improving the lives of the local population.
