The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani congratulated the Yezidis on the holiday of Kloch Sarah Sale.
“I would like to congratulate the Yezidis of Georgia on the New Year - Kloch Sarah Sale. This is important day, which symbolizes the beginning of spring, a revival, perseverance and faith. Hope, this holiday will bring peace, joy, happiness and luck to your families”, - said the State Minister.
“Klotcha sare sale” - or “New Year pie” - is celebrated by every Yezidi family, on the first Wednesday of March according to the Eastern calendar. Hostess bakes kulich, and puts a bead or coin inside. The next day, early in the morning, all the family members gather around the cake and the head of the family cuts it, once mentioning the name of God. According to legend, the one who gets the slice with the coin will be blessed by God.
