Temporary Governmental Commission for the needs of villages near the dividing line held its next session, chaired by Mr. Nodar Javakhishvili, Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure and Mr. Paata Zakareishvili, the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.
Representative of the Public Defender’s Office Mrs. Medea Turashvili, Gori Majoritarian MP Soso Vakhtangashvili, Deputy Head of the Department for the Relations with Districts and Local Self-government Bodies of the Government Mr. Irakli Melashvili, as well as heads of local self-government bodies participated into the meeting along with the members of the commission.
Participants of the session familiarized with the recommendations of the Public Defender’s Office, addressing the need of taking effective measures for the fulfillment of social rights for the conflict-affected populations.
"Today’s session also concerned the issues of potable and irrigation water supply for villages near the dividing line, gasification, waste disposal, crop-yielding, funding of higher education for the students living in these villages, as well as the issue of involving a number of villages into the category of villages that are located near the dividing line.
"It is very important to address the needs of communities who live in villages near the dividing line; by doing so, we enable the locals to remain in their areas of residence and develop their living conditions. The process of identifying the ways for the solution of problems runs not only during the commission sessions, but also regularly, in order to provide feedback timely and effectively,"- Mr. Paata Zakareishvili declared.
