The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality took part into the opening ceremony of the COBERM III Launch. Mr. Zakareishvili spoke about the importance of COBERM Project within the confidence building process.
The State Minister emphasized that several Georgian-Abkhaz and Georgian-Ossetian initiatives obtained funding within I and II phases of COBERM, covering almost all spheres and areas of humanitarian dimension.
“COBERM deserves due confidence not only by the side of the local non-governmental organizations, but also by Abkhazian and Ossetian organizations. We do hope, that despite difficult conditions, civil society actors shall contribute to the implementation of the new phase. Involvement and active participation of Abkhazian and Ossetian civil society is extremely important for the success of the reconciliation and confidence-building process, and also for conflict transformation” – the State Minister declared.
He also noted, that COBERM enables the people living on both sides of the divide to communicate, establish contacts and find out mutual interests.
The State Minister extended his thanks to the EU Delegation in Georgia and UN Development Programme (UNDP).
