Participants of the “Support to Bordering Communities of Armenia and Azerbaijan” Project (funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland) paid a visit to the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.
Mrs. Marina Salukvadze, the Head of Unit of Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Former Autonomous District of South Ossetia met with the representatives of the local self-government bodies and NGOs of Armenia. Mrs. Salukvadze gave an overview on basic areas of work within the State Minister’s Office.
Conversation addressed Georgian-Russian relations, current situation in the occupied territories and the policy of the Central Government towards these regions. The topics also included the participation of the SMRCE at Geneva International Discussions and IPRM. Participants received information on the Law on Occupied territories, State Strategy on Occupied Territories, attitudes and peace-building initiatives of the Georgian Authorities.
Participants of the meeting showed interest how the Georgian experience and peace initiatives might be applied to Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict settlement process.
