The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the Permanent Representatives of the United Nations.
Addressing the ambassadors, the First Deputy State Minister gave an overview of the situation in the occupied territories and the situation along the occupation line.
Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili paid attention to the issue of property tights and the prospect for the return of IDPs that are dealt in frames of Geneva International Discussions. Mrs. Tsikhelashvili also reflected on problems that emerged for the local population after the installation of barbed wires and artificial barriers in villages near the occupation line and the importance of United Nations involvement into the return of IDPs and security arrangements.
The First Deputy State Minister also focused on the issue of conflict settlement, restoration of people-to-people contacts amidst the conflict settlement process and the human rights violations in the occupied territories. Discussion concerned the issue of restrictions on education into native language and freedom of movement in the occupied territories, particularly in Gali and Akhalgori districts.
The visitors showed interest for the development of Geneva International Discussions, in particular the problems and underling challenges that emerged for the local population after Russian occupation.
