9 soldiers who died at Babushera Airport were buried at Dighomi Brothers Cemetery and three of them at Patrimonial Graveyard.
The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mr. Paata Zakareishvili and other representatives of the Government attended the funeral ceremony. The civil funeral of 12 soldiers who died amid the explosion of Babushera Airport took place in Holy Trinity Cathedral on 8-9 April.
The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili delivered her condolences to the natives of the dead.
It is of note that in 2010, a bilateral coordination group has started operating within the auspices of International Committee of Red Cross, which deals with the issue of persons who remain missing after 1992-1993 Georgian-Abkhazian conflict. The negotiations has resulted into the decision to exhume the dead bodies of Babushera Brothers Cemetery. For this moment, all 43 bodies are identified from Babushera graveyard.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia continues interaction with representatives of de-facto government on the issue of reburial that will facilitate opening up two more graveyards in 2016 to rebury more than 100 dead bodies.
