The participants of Geneva international discussions met with the representatives of NGO in the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel.
The meeting was opened by the First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
She informed the participants about the results of recent – 35 and 36 – rounds of Geneva international discussions. Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili also mentioned the importance of this format and of the involvement of non-government organizations (especially, women) in the conflict resolution issues.
As the First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality said, this will make the peace process more dynamic. Also, it’s echoes the spirit of UN Resolution 1325. Besides, often women and children are the most vulnerable population in the conflict areas. That’s why their support should be one of the priorities of the country.
During the meeting Mrs. Tsikhelashvili noted, that within the Geneva international discussions the return of refugees is one of the most important topics of the three fundamental issues.
"Unfortunately, other participants are permanently trying to politicize this topic. Nevertheless, during the last round we once again and in details explained that the right of return is an integral and none of the political demarche will take away this right to the refugees. Obviously, the international community is unanimous in this issue. But the most important is the practical implementation of this issue and the Geneva format was set up exactly in order to discuss such questions. During the 36th round of Geneva discussions along with the traditional topics, Georgian delegation raised additional issues. In particular, Giga Otkhozoria’s murder (May 19, Khurcha). This was the leading topic in both working groups, as far as Otkhozoria’s killer has not been arrested. This case will remain for us as a priority issue of the agenda till we achieve the result. We will use all our available means, including the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meetings in Gali (the next one is scheduled on July, 6). This fact once again highlights the need for international mechanisms of the occupied territories ", - said Tsikhelashvili.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the situation in Gali district (the right to receive education on native language, freedom of movement issues, health care service delivery problems etc.).
According to the First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, all these topics are still the priority issue of the Geneva international discussions humanitarian group.

This discussion was organized by the State Minister's Office and the financial support of UN women organization. Together with the State Minister Office, the representatives of Prime Minister, MFA and the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia took part in the meeting.
