28 June 2016
On 28th June 2016, the 67th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism took place in Ergneti, co-facilitated by Kęstutis Jankauskas, the Head of the EUMM in Georgia and Ambassador Guenther Baechler, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.

Participants discussed the incidents that occurred after the latest meeting, including the cases of illegal arrests and problems that affected populations on both sides due to illegal installation of barbed wires, artificial barriers and banners.

It was noted that the security situation along the Administrative Boundary Line was relatively stable, but not free from challenges. Some of them, in particular crossings of the ABL and detentions, were extensively discussed.

The Georgian side provided the participants with information about the missing on June 28, resident of the village of Korda, 26-year-old Nick Sagirashvili.

Together with the items on the agenda, the participants of IPRM discussed the issues of missing persons and illegal prisoners of Tskhinvali prison. They also discussed the details of repeated investigation on the death of Davit Basharuli (the resident of Akhalgori) because of the dubious circumstances associated with this case.

The next IPRM meeting will take place on 19th July 2016.

The Central Authorities are represented by the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and State Security Service at IPRM.
