Representatives of State Minister’s Office took part into the event, dedicated to the International Day of the Disappeared. The event took place at the Center for Spiritual and Intellectual Development of the Youth, affiliated with the Patriarchy of Georgia, under the arrangement of the Foundation “Molodini” and families of the missing persons, with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Afterwards, attendees paid a respect to the memory of Georgian soldiers at Digomi Brothers Cemetery, who died amid the explosion at Babushera Airport.
More than 2000 persons remain missing in Georgia, following the armed conflicts of 90-ies and August 2008. August 30th is marked as the International Day of the Disappeared since 19993, and since 2011 in Georgia.
