The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the Deputy to the Director of the Directorate General for Political Affairs of the Council of Europe Mr. Daniil Khoshabo.
The State Minister provided information on current situation in the occupied territories of Georgia to the representatives of the Council of Europe.
Mrs. Tsikhelashvili emphasized the cases of serious human rights violations, including the restrictions that are imposed on freedom of movement, property rights and education into native language; illegal arrests and other humanitarian challenges instigated by occupying regime; the conversation also dealt with Geneva International Discussions and IPRM (Incident Prevention and Reaction Mechanism) meetings.
The State Minister stressed that the policy of Georgian Government is pragmatic and constructive, seeking the peaceful means as the only solution to the conflict.
“A human being, his/her dignity and rights have a primary importance for the Government. In pursuit of this goal, we are committed to explore a humanitarian option, as one of the top priorities, within the conflict settlement process,” – Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili declared.
Mr. Marsel Capi Political Adviser at the Directorate General attended the meeting as well.
The aim of the meeting was to receive information for Council of Europe Secretary General’s 14th Consolidated Report on the Situation in Occupied Territories of Georgia.
