On March, 2 2017, the 75th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in the village of Ergneti.
Participants discussed all the incidents that happened from previous meeting and freedom of movement. Representatives of the Central Government of Georgia once again paid particular attention to the issue of Georgian citizen Giorgi Giunashvili who is illegally detained in so-called Tskhinvali prison. They underlined that he should be released unconditionally. They also discussed the recent case of Amiran Gugutishvili’s illegal detention.
Participants once again said that illegally installed barbed wires, fences and other artificial barriers make problems for local population. Also issues related to agricultural and other activities along the ABL and consequently the livelihood of the affected population were also raised. Participants discussed possible solutions in view of the continuing agricultural season.
The next IPRM meeting will take place on 4 April, 2017.
