The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the co-chairs of Geneva discussions.
Participants discussed the agenda of the next round of Geneva International Discussions and the situation on the occupied regions of Georgia.
Special attention if The State Minister was paid to the tendency of closing down the so-called checkpoints along the occupation line in Abkhazia. Tsikhelashvili expressed her concern over the closure of two more checkpoints in the villages of Otobaia and Nabakevi on 5 March.
"The closure of these crossing points made the humanitarian situation even more difficult. This new restriction is directed not only against the Gali district, but also against the population of the whole region. It’s extremely important to take steps toward towards the simplifying movement, not to restrict. People must have opportunity of freedom of movement for domestic reasons. Including the right for education. We need to think about the humanitarian exit from the current situation», - said Tsikhelashvili.

28-29 March 2017.
