On 21 March 2017, the 44th meeting in the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Gali.
During the meeting the representatives of the central government of Georgia raised three main question - the detention of the murder of Giga Otkhozoria in the village of Khurcha on May 19, 2016, the release of Giorgi Lukava, who is in the prison of Abkhazia and the release of three women, which were detained on March, 13.
The closure of crossing points in Nabakevi and Meore Otobaia, and implications for local population living along the Administrative Boundary Line were touched on from both security and humanitarian perspectives. As the representatives of the central government of Georgia said, such steps will have negative impacts on the daily lives of locals who cross the ABL. Especially, for the movement of schoolchildren.
The next IPRM meeting in Gali is scheduled for 25 April 2017.
