On the "Earth Day" the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and the employees of the Office together with the representatives of ethnic minorities planted the Colchis willow (which is included in the Red Book) in the Tolerance Square in Tbilisi. "We all have to take care of our ecosystem and life environment. Today we came to the Tolerance Square in order to emphasize how important it is to take care of the common environment of our country, which is distinguished by its multiculturalism. This district of Tbilisi is a “living monument” of the peaceful coexistence and tolerance tradition. The protection of the principles of tolerance creates a healthy environment, which is a necessary condition for the development of our country. Today we planted Colchis willow, which is a unique variety of our country. For us it’s a hope-related plant. Recently this species was under the serious threat in Georgia, including the Abkhazian region. That’s why we are actively cooperating with the Abkhazians for its preservation, as the part of our common heritage and wealth”, - said the State Minister. The "Earth Day" is celebrated worldwide on April 22 and promotes the environmental protection.
