The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mr. Petre Kankava made a report in the Parliament. During sitting of the Human Rights and Social Issues Committee he provided the participants information on implementation of recommendations of the Public Defender’s report on Human Rights State in Georgia for 2016 year.
Kankava talked about the projects implemented by the Georgian government in the villages along the dividing line.
He also spoke about the issues discussed at the Geneva International Discussions and IPRM. In particular, about the legal status of the people affected by the conflict and the possibility of increasing women's participation in these formats.
Peter Kankava reviewed the programs implemented by the Government in 2016 in the regions, compactly populated by ethnic minorities, and reforms implemented in support of the print and other media outlets in the ethnic minority languages.
Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili and the representatives of other ministries also attended the committee sitting.
