As Tsikhelashvili stated to journalists, it is surprising why they see connections with Russia, if Europe and USA evaluated the initiative positively, as they did.
"It is a blatant lie. For years, there has been a recommendation in the regulations of European Neighborhood Policy that the law needs to be revised. The Venice Commission made numerous recommendations as well. Our partners in Europe and USA already gave a positive evaluation to this initiative", - stated First Deputy State Minister.
According to her, changes into the law were have already been made five times before.
"The assessments of the parliamentary minority and those of the president’s administration are not true. They claim that it is the first time the law is being revised. The word "revision" is not appropriate at all. Changes to this law have been made five times; three times in 2010 and twice in 2011. Back then, nobody dared to make statements like the statehood of Georgia was in disorder and the like. We did a minimal change to the law and the principle of the law will remain invariable. We make a modification of the punishment. It should not be inevitable to put a person into jail for the violation, we have to punish him or her with an administrative liability", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
