They viewed three burned houses of which the owners take out the remaining things. According to local residents, the houses which were burned down after the Georgian-Russian war in 2008 were used as warehouses. They are leaving these houses because they might be left behind the barbed wire fences installed by the Russian soldiers.
"The humanitarian working group of Geneva Talks constantly discusses the issue of freedom of movement and dire humanitarian consequences of these barbed wire fences. Today, we got acquainted with the situation. Local people are living in very difficult conditions, particularly those whose lands are near the barbed wires. We have two tasks. To present the obtained information in detail to the Co-Chairs of Geneva Talks, other members of our group and the entire international community, in order to effectively influence on the Russian Federation. The second direction is to help local population and to create normal living conditions so that they would not leave their homes. This is one of the responses of our government to this challenge", - said First Deputy State Minister of Georgia for Reintegration Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
The local residents familiarized the representatives of the Humanitarian Group with their problems. The representatives of the government promised the people to find problem solution mechanisms and to respond appropriately.
