They observed the barbed wires installed by Russian military servicemen. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili provided Jennifer Simons, the Chairman of Suriname Parliament, and other MPs with detailed information about the situation on the Division Line and in Dvani, also about the conditions of the people left beyond the Division Line.
"We checked the creeping fences on place, we observed the ruins of houses and spotlighted the situation in which these people are living. The large amount of the land and some of the houses of these people are left on the other side. This is incredibly difficult for these people. We shall deliver this information to our Government, as well as to the whole region", - declared Jennifer Simons.
According to Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, today’s visit to Dvani is important in terms of consolidating the support of the international community.
"The delegation members have seen what the occupation is and what the separation of people through barbed wires and fences means. They received information about the specificity of the problem in terms of legal and humanitarian perspective. The whole international community and more and more countries must know what is taking place in Georgia and what the nature of occupation is for consolidating the support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia", - declared Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
After returning to Tbilisi, the Suriname Parliamentary Delegation has met with the State Minister Paata Zakareishvili.
