The representatives of the Government of Georgia familiarized them with the problems and continued works in the villages adjacent to the Division Line.
The Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze has opened the session and delivered information about the work of the Governmental Commission. Davit Narmania, the Chairman of the Interim Governmental Commission reviewed essential problems in the villages located near the Division Line and projects that are implemented by the government.
Paata Zakareishvili, the Co-Chari of the Commission spoke about the importance of the support by the western partners, expressed after the Russian military servicemen started to install the barbed wire fences. The First Deputy State Minister Ketevan Tsikhelashvili made a detailed presentation on the needs of village communities located near the Division Line.
"Today’s representative meeting demonstrates the interest of our partners to be involved in the responsive measures for the needs of village communities. We have summarized the situation in the villages of each municipality and provided information about the ongoing projects. We have stressed the importance of international support that will enable the communities left beyond the Division Line to see how the west supports the peaceful policy of Georgia and how Russia behaves against this backdrop. Accordingly, our partnership will be directed not only towards responding the humanitarian needs, but towards conflict resolution as well", - Paata Zakareishvili declared.
"The all-inclusive meeting of this kind was held for the first time in frames of the Commission. We have familiarized them with those needs that are present in villages and that cannot be covered by budget finances. For the majority of the participants, this information was fresh and also helpful for decision-making", - Davit Namrania declared.
The meeting was organized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
