The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani met with the Ambassador of Hungary to Georgia Victoria Horvath.
At the meeting, the State Minister briefed the Hungarian diplomat on the priorities of the Office, the results achieved and the current challenges in the implementation of the policy of reconciliation and involvement, as well as civic equality and integration.
Particular attention was paid to the dire humanitarian and human rights situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, including restrictions on free movement, illegal erection of barbed wire and other artificial barriers along the occupation line, and illegal arrests.
Tea Akhvlediani condemned the illegal decision of the occupation regime in Tskhinvali to sentence Zaza Gakheladze, a Georgian citizen, to 12 years and 6 months in prison, and stressed the need for a clear response from international partners to ensure the release of all citizens detained illegally.
The Hungarian Ambassador expressed her full readiness and support for cooperation with the Office of the State Minister in the implementation of both peacekeeping and civil integration policies. The parties agreed on closer cooperation.
