The Georgian participants spoke extensively about Russia’s intensified provocations amid the Coronavirus pandemic, illegal militarization and regular military exercises in the Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, continuation of creeping occupation in the adjacent area of the Chorchana village, as well as erection of barbed wire fences and artificial barriers across the occupation line, which was assessed as an attempt towards destabilizing the situation on the ground.

During the meeting Faig Guliyev presented proposals for effective future cooperation with the State Minister’s Office as part of his activities in the country. Tea Akhvlediani informed the ambassador of activities by the Office, including the progress achieved in civil equality and integration, state policy objectives, and main tasks  

Upon receiving the information about the preparation of the medical evacuation from the Red Cross, the Central Government of Georgia immediately carried out the necessary procedures for the evacuation. It is noteworthy that the patient was in an extremely serious condition and died in the ambulance. Occupied Akhalgori has been closed for more than a year. The abolition of the so-called checkpoints has already claimed the lives of 16 people.  

Tea Akhvlediani expressed gratitude to international partners for the steady support of Georgia that gains particular importance against the challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic  

According to Tea Akhvlediani, the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, this fact is the result of joint efforts of Georgian state agencies and international partners.  

Participants stressed the value of the IPRM format, emphasized the importance of direct dialogue, and engaged in constructive discussions on the most pressing issues influencing stability and security on the ground.  

The purpose of the meeting was to obtain information on the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia for the 22nd Consolidated Report of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe
